| POI BRIEF DESCRIPTION | |
| Description of the POI | Located on the southwest part of the Kosinj Valley, there is a place where the Lika River meets mountain Velebit and becomes invisible to the eye of the beholder as it continues its flow subterraneanly. This hydrologically active speleological object is called Marko Abyss and it is not only fascinating because of the spectacular view on the Lika but also its fauna. Near the entrance, the remains of congeria, a Dinaric relict and the only living freshwater underground shellfish, were found. It is interesting to note that only 2,5 km of channels have been explored so far. |
