| Description of the POI | The summit of Mount Carpegna (1415 m). "...è sul Carpegna che ho preparato tante mie vittorie. Non ho bisogno, prima di un Giro o di un Tour, di provare a una a una tutte le grandi salite. Una sola volta, se ricordo bene, sono andato a dare un'occhiata in anticipo al Mortirolo e al Montecampione. Ma in macchina. E non mi è servito neanche molto. Il Carpegna mi basta. Da Coppi in poi e' una salita che ha fatto la storia del ciclismo e ogni tanto anche il Giro c'è passato. Io non le conto più le volte che l'ho fatta, allenandomi. Direte che sono un tradizionalista. Forse sì. Sempre ad allenarmi sulle stesse strade di casa. Sempre a spingere gli stessi rapporti, gli stessi che uso in corsa. Sempre in giro senza borraccia, perché mi bastano quelle quattro fontane che so io dove sono. Una proprio a Carpegna". Marco Pantani |
