POI BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Description of the POI
Palazzo Calice-Valesio is one of the most important historic houses in Paularo, with its construction dating back to the Middle Ages and its current appearence being the result of Giacomo Calice's work (1600). It is a 3-wings fortified complex, located in a panoramic position and including 18th Century fresco decorations. Several years ago the Municipality has purchased it, in order to refurbish it and use it for events and other initiatives. Considering the size of the building and its wide garden, the possibilities are countless.
È una delle dimore storiche di pregio di Paularo. Il complesso fortificato, già esistente in epoca medievale, ha visto modificare il suo aspetto nel tempo: l’attuale si deve a Giacomo Calice (1600). Il vasto complesso, articolato in tre ali, domina il capoluogo; conserva al suo interno belle decorazioni a fresco secentesche, stucchi policromi. È stato acquisito dal Comune per prelazione alcuni anni fa e su di esso sono in programma interventi di ristrutturazione: vi sono molte idee sulle attività che potrebbe accogliere in futuro, considerati i vasti spazi interni ed esterni e la splendida location.

Currently it is only possible to book a guided tour or take part in one of the theme dinners that are sometimes organized in this location. However, considering the value of the building, as well as the interviewees’ wish to valorise it through a number of cultural activities, it would be beneficial to move in this direction. When visiting Palazzo Calice, our suggestion is to reach it through the staircase ascending from the centre of the town.
L’esperienza turistica al momento si limita alla visita guidata al castello o alla partecipazione ad una delle manifestazioni culinarie che vi si tengono sporadicamente. Considerato tuttavia il valore storico dell’edificio e le aspettative/progettualità rinvenute nelle conversazioni con molti cittadini, si consideri che potrà divenire centro per attività culturali e turistiche: esposizioni, esibizioni e spettacoli, corsi…
Si consiglia l’ascesa al palazzo a piedi, tramite la scalinata che sale dal capoluogo.

Anche in altre interviste è emersa chiaramente la notevole attenzione e l’interesse rispetto alle possibilità di sviluppo culturale e turistico connesse al palazzo. Esso rappresenta senza dubbio una ottima risorsa per lo sviluppo turistico locale.
