POI BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Description of the POI The grandmother carved in stone is a symbol of the people who lived here before the Romans, Liburnia. In the Municipality of Čavle there is a carved grandmother in stone, presumably from the Middle Ages. It is also known that every town, place or village at the entrance had a grandmother in some form who greeted people and who had to be kissed to enter. The conveyed meaning of the above would be giving respect to the place you are entering.

It is situated at the bottom of a steep road that leads to the Grobnik Castle. According to folk tradition, such female figures bring luck and overall prosperity both to individuals and to the town. Each first-time visitor has to kiss the baba for good luck and prosperity.
