POI BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Description of the POI
Slava Raškaj was born deaf and dumb, but that did not stop her from creating exceptional works of art. Her watercolors represent the highest achievement of Croatian watercolor painting at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. Apart from watercolors, she made some works in the pastel technique, mostly works with human motifs and portraits. She died in Zagreb on March 29, 1906, and her remains are in the cemetery of St. Vitus Church in Ozalj. Thanks to her heritage, the City of Ozalj has been on the European Impressionism Route since 2019, as the first city from Croatia.
In her honor, a tourist route In the footsteps of Slava Raškaj was designed. It is a cultural and tourism product that integrates cultural and historical heritage with tourism eno-gastro offer within the local community with the aim of branding and positioning Ozalj on the tourist map of Croatia and Europe. The goal of this route is to connect the cultural heritage of Ozalj with the work and life of Slava Raškaj.
The route includes a tour of the Ethno Park Ozalj - HPP Munjara (city beach, bridge over the Kupa) - the promenade of Emilie Laszowski - the Church of St. Vid and the tomb of Slava Raskaj - the Old Town of Ozalj and the Ozalj Homeland Museum.
