POI BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Description of the POI
In 1750 an edict of Charles III King of Naples prohibited the manufacture of cutting weapons. The artisans of Campobasso were forced to convert their production, so they start making and decorating kitchen knives. Quickly the openwork steel industry became flourishing and the products were exported all over Europe. At the beginning of the twentieth century, thanks to the workshop of the Tucci family, steel becomes the opportunity to develop an urban decoration inspired by art nouveau. Consequently, Campobasso quickly became an elegant and welcoming town: balconies, benches, gates and wrought iron street lamps that take graceful forms and delicate shapes in the hands of local skilled craftsmen.
